
AP Env. Science kiddos made observations and designed their own experiments to test their hypothesis as to what natural causes make a Fortune Fish move. They then performed their experiment to either prove or disprove that hypothesis.




The Student Council is excited to welcome everyone back for a brand-new school year! To kick things off and celebrate the start of the year together, we will be having a HOWDY Dress Up Week.
Each day will have a fun theme, giving everyone a chance to show off their school spirit and creativity. We encourage all students and staff to join in and make this week one to remember!

Please help us welcome Jennifer Carlisle to our NHS family! Mrs. Carlisle is a graduate of Western Govenors University and will be teaching Special Education this year. She has been married to her husband Robbie for 24 years. She has 3 children: Mark (married to Kim), Case, and Abigail, 1 grandson Knox, and 4 dogs. She is excited to work in my new role and continue to inspire students to achieve their goals!


NHS would like to welcome Ms. Kim Whichard as our newest math teacher! Ms. Whichard is a graduate of Sam Houston and Lamar University. She has one son, Blake, and another four-legged son, Bravo. She’s looking forward to being back in the classroom after several years serving as an Instructional Coach and Academic Facilitator across multiple sites. She has a true passion for student learning and building strong relationships with both students and colleagues and can’t wait to dive in!


Please welcome Cameron Anderson back to NHS! Cameron graduated from Needville High School before obtaining his degree from Texas Tech. He will be teaching Agriculture Science this year. He is married to his wife, Kally Jo, and they have two dogs, Stoney and Lexie. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He is excited to be able to give back to the school he graduated from.


We are excited to welcome Joey and Lauren Rivera to our NHS family! Joey is a graduate of Texas A&M University and will be teaching World Geography as well as coaching football. Lauren, a graduate of Schreiner University, will be serving as a business teacher on campus. They are proud parents of three children, Auggie, Emmitt, and Elyse. They are both excited to be Blue Jays and are looking forward to building strong connections with the students, staff, and families in NISD!


Please help us welcome Mark Durham to NHS! Coach Durham will be teaching Dual Credit and will also serve at the Head Baseball coach this year. He is a graduate of the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He is married to his wife, Heidi, and has two sons, Matta and Mason, along with daughter in law Mariana. Coach Durham is eager to work with a few of his old colleagues. In his free time he enjoys to fish and play golf!


Help me welcome Kole Matula to NHS! Coach Matula will be teaching World History and as well as coaching football. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and is in his 2nd year of teaching. In his off time, he enjoys hunting and fishing. Kole’s two sisters and fiancé, Hannah, are also teachers in the district.


Please help me welcome our newest ESL teacher/coordinator, Mrs. Ismelda Medina! Ms. Medina is a graduate from the University of Houston and Lamar University. She has 24 years in education with the last 10 having been served at Needville Elementary School. She is most excited about helping students grow in their learning and being able to help others around the school. Mrs. Medina is married to her husband Paul. Her son Gabriel is a sophomore at UH and her daughter Sophie will be a sophomore at NHS. During her free time, she enjoys gardening and studying the Bible.


Please welcome Mr. Justin Gilbreath to NHS! Mr. Gilbreath is a former graduate of Needville High School and is excited to be back at the high school he attended many years ago. He will be teaching Art this coming year. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State and enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter as well as his extended family and friends.
