Aquatic Science students in Mrs. Erfurdt, Mrs. Muniz, and Mr. Salazar’s classes had an incredible opportunity to learn from guest speakers from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department today!  Students discovered how biologists monitor fish populations - using real-world data collection methods to track species health and sustainability. The highlight?  Getting to see and touch several species found right here in our own Gulf!  🐟🎣🐠

🌿🔬 In their lab investigation in Mrs. Erfurdt’s Honors Biology class, students explored real-world ecological interactions—observing examples of commensalism, parasitism, mutualism, competition, and even altruism in action. From organisms that help each other thrive to those competing for limited resources, students uncovered how interconnected and dynamic ecosystems truly are. Hands-on science at its best! 🌎✨

The regular season results are in, and I am proud to officially announce we have 13 Lady Jay Powerlifters who have qualified to compete at the 2026 Regional Powerlifting Meet for Division 2 Region 4. The Lady Jay Powerlifters are:

The Division 2 Region 4 Girls Powerlifting Meet will be held at Palacios High School. Alicia Flores and Isabela Balleza will compete in the Unequipped Division tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm. The rest of our Lady Jays will compete next Thursday, March 5th at 2:00pm. Please wish these young ladies’ good luck and maximum strength in their pursuit for a Regional Championship and to earn that ticket to compete at the Girls State Powerlifting Championships in March. Students in Mrs. Erfurdt’s Honors Biology classes brought ecosystems to life by constructing food webs using organism cards and chalk! 🌎 From producers to top predators, they mapped out connections, traced energy flow, and discovered how every organism plays an important role in maintaining balance.
